The anointing that is deeply embedded within is what moved the Apostle Paul to pray this over us: “And I pray that Christ the Anointed One and His anointing will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him…” (Ephesians 3:17). We must focus our thoughts on the power of the anointing instead of trying to figure out how to fix all our problems on our own.
There isn’t a problem big enough to match the anointing that is embedded within us. Remember what First John 2:27 says about adversities: “But they’re no match for what is embedded deeply within you — Christ’s anointing, no less!” (Message).
The very purpose that Jesus came to the earth was to bring us freedom from the works of the devil; from sickness and disease, from poverty and lack, from strife and confusion. Galatians 5:1 instructs us to: “Plant your feet firmly therefore within the freedom that Christ the Anointed One and His anointing has won for us…” (The New Testament in Modern English). The Anointed One and His anointing won our freedom from every work that death would ever try to produce in our lives. Now it’s up to us to stand firm and refuse to be uprooted from that freedom.
Many people are forfeiting the “great blessings” God has stockpiled for them simply because they haven’t put to death the old habit patterns. However, to continue to live by the flesh will result only in death. Romans 8:13 says, “For if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live” (NASU). When it comes right down to it, nothing is so important that it’s worth relinquishing the wonderful things the anointing provides. In fact, Colossians 3:11 declares that in this new life, “…Christ the Anointed One and His anointing is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.”
Within the anointing lies the unlimited resources for everything we need. It’s easy to understand why Paul said the anointing is all that matters. When we are faced with a critical need and the power of God is the only thing that can deliver us, we should ask ourselves if the satisfaction we receive from an outburst of anger, greed, lust, or slander is worth sacrificing the anointing that can remove burdens. Surely we all agree with Paul that nothing but the anointing matters in life, for it is the place where the power and the life of God are freely made available to us.
We cannot get too busy looking at problems and wondering how we’re going to fix them. When we focus on the lack of resources, our rebellious children, our obstinate spouse, our aching bodies, our lousy job, our annoying boss, and every other thing the kingdom of darkness throws in our path we will be too distracted to receive from the Anointed One and His Anointing.
Instead, turn your eyes to Jesus. Set your sights on heaven where Christ, the Anointed One sits and begin to draw from the anointing that is embedded deeply within you. You’ll find that adversities are no match for the anointing!
