The most powerful force on the earth, and indeed in the universe, is resurrection power. This was the power exercised when Jesus was at His worst—taking on all the punishment for the sins of humanity.
The price Jesus paid for man’s sin was graphic and horrendous. The prophet Isaiah described Jesus as “marred more than any man” (Isaiah 52:14). This was the darkest moment in human existence, for the punishment for sin was being inflicted on Someone who did not deserve it.
Yet Jesus was willing to bear that punishment so His righteousness would be extended to us. We deserved the punishment He received. Because of our faith in the sacrifice of Jesus life for us, we are now righteous in the eyes of God.
Romans 8:11 says: “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (NKJV).
Divine life was what God always intended but when Adam and Eve sinned, an immediate separation between God and man took place. God had warned Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, saying, “In the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” (Genesis 2:17 NKJV).
Although Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, why didn’t they drop dead the moment they disobeyed the Lord’s command? God’s words were clear: “In the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Adam and Eve did die spiritually at the moment of their disobedience, although they remained physically alive. At the very moment they disobeyed they were reborn from life into death.
Many people remain spiritually dead even though their bodies are still alive. Until a person connects with God by making Jesus the Lord of his life, until God’s resurrection power lives on the inside of him, that person is just a walking dead man.
The Gospel is God’s commitment to provide a way for mankind to escape the destiny of eternal death and to experience His divine life. God’s divine life, the most powerful force in this universe, is available to every human being on the face of the earth!
The light that pierced the darkness in the pit of hell and delivered Jesus from death is more powerful than a raging hurricane. Now as believers, we have that resurrection power dwelling on the inside of us!
What kind of results could we obtain in our life if we ever discovered how big God really is on the inside of us?
Are we spending all our time trying to get victory over our temper, depression, a troubled marriage, or the pile of bills on our desk? Certainly God is interested in delivering us from all these hindrances. But if those are the kinds of faith challenges we’ve been focusing on, we have been struggling with low-level problems from which Jesus has already set us free! Tap into resurrection power instead!
