Hectic, Frantic, Chaotic Life

The world we live in can be very demanding and stressful. In most homes, both the husband and wife work, and in many cases, both are focusing on building promising careers. As children are added to the home, the demands increase. Not only does day care and school become a part of an already busy schedule, but there are sports activities, music lessons, recitals and an entire array of things to keep up with.

God never intended for our lives to be hectic, chaotic, frantic and unsettled! He doesn’t want life to be hard or difficult. If life has been a struggle, there is an answer! To receive this answer we must make some adjustments in our lives.

Second Timothy 3:16 says, “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the faith and correcting error, for resetting the direction of a man’s life and training him in good living. The scriptures are the comprehensive equipment of the man of God, and fit him fully for all branches of his work” (J.B. Phillips).

Notice one of the functions of the scripture is “for resetting the direction of a man’s life.” Anyone can become distracted and veer off course, but God’s Word has the ability to get us right back on track. We must simply repent for getting away from our God-given purpose. Notice what repentance does in our lives:

“So repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return to God, that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19 AMP).

When a pilot gets off course, he simply makes an adjustment to get back on course again. The Word of God does that for you and me. When our lives become stressful, the Word will steer us back on the course for success.

A simple adjustment, a change of mind and purpose—returning to God’s purpose will cause us to recover from the effects of heat. When difficult decisions cry out for our attention, we don’t have to become upset. We can look to the Holy Spirit for the answer. When the psalmist was distressed and confused, the Lord showed him the right way to go.

“Who is the man who reverently fears and worships the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way that he should choose. He himself shall dwell at ease, and his offspring shall inherit the land” (Psalm 25:12,13 AMP).

When we have a critical or important decision to make, we can remain at ease, knowing the Holy Spirit will show us what to do. God promises to teach us the right way to choose when we fear and reverence Him.

When we make a daily habit of seeking the Lord, living is free and easy! Psalm 119:45 says, “And I will walk at liberty and at ease, for I have sought and inquired for and desperately required Your precepts” (AMP).

What a promise!
